Amnesty International is deeply disappointed at the Chilean Court's decision not to extradite former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori to Peru where he faces charges for human rights violations and corruption.
Judge Orlando Alvarez' decision will now be reviewed by the Chilean Supreme Court.

"The Chilean authorities have a duty under international law to grant the extradition of Fujimori to Peru or to investigate the human rights charges against him themselves," said Guadalupe Marengo, Deputy Director of Amnesty International's Americas Programme. "Alberto Fujimori is accused of widespread and systematic human rights violations including killings, forced disappearances and torture. He must be brought to justice immediately," said Guadalupe Marengo.
