JAPAN: New Director for Amnesty International Japan

Amnesty International Japan has appointed Hideaki L Nakagawa as its Executive Director as of 1 April 2018.

Hideaki Nakagawa's Profile:

Born and raised in Tokyo, Hideaki worked as a staff of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) which works to provide international protection and assistance to asylum seekers, refugees and internally displaced people around the world. As a programme officer he served in field locations including Hanoi, Colombo, Belmopan, and Sarajevo as well as at Headquarters in Geneva.

Since his return to Japan in 2002, Hideaki has dealt with various assistance projects in Asia and Africa as an NGO staff. He served as a country director for Habitat for Humanity Japan and Oxfam Japan.
