ここ数カ月、スリランカでは独立後最悪の経済危機をめぐり、抗議デモが広がっています。
2022年3月以来、スリランカの人たちは街頭に出て、政治指導者に対し、汚職、強制失踪、超法規的殺害、警察の過剰な武力行使に対する説明責任を要求しています。
これに対し政府は、軍や警察を動員し、催涙ガスや放水銃、実弾などを用いて、デモに参加する人たちを容赦なく弾圧。平和的に抗議の権利を行使する人たちを悪者扱いしています。
このイベントでは、アムネスティのスリランカの調査員をゲストに招き、スリランカの人権を守るために、私たちに何ができるのかを一緒に考えます。ぜひ、ご参加ください。
Over the last few months, Sri Lanka has seen widespread protests over the worst economic crisis in the country's post-independence history. Since February 2022, Sri Lankans have taken to the street to call for the accountability of their political leaders, demanding accountability for corruption, enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and police misuse of force. The Sri Lankan authorities have fiercely clamped down on the protests, as they resorted to excessive use of force, deploying the military to police protests and carrying out reprisals against protestors while also demonizing those who exercise their protest rights peacefully. Please join us and discuss what can be done to support people in Sri Lanka.
