タイでは2020年初頭から、若者を中心に、憲法、社会、そして政治の改革を求める大規模な民主化デモが全土で広がっています。これに対し、当局は強制排除に乗り出し、催涙ガス、ゴム弾、そして時には刺激性の薬剤を混入させた放水を使って、デモを解散させようとしてきました。不当逮捕と起訴も増加し続けています。

このイベントでは、タイの民主化運動で重要な役割を果たしている大学生・民主活動家のパヌサヤ・「ラン」・シチジラワッタナクルさんをお招きして、今回のデモの背景やタイ国内の人権現状、デモ参加者に対する警察暴力、などについてお話しいただきます。ランさんは、平等、表現の自由、そしてタイで非常にデリケートな話題である君主制の改革を求めています。タブーに切り込む彼女は、一躍、民主化運動の象徴となり、当局は政情不安を煽るトラブルメーカーだとみなしました。ランさんは現在、数十件で起訴されており、有罪の場合は終身刑の恐れがあります。

彼女の話を通じて、日本にいる私たちはタイの若者活動家を守る為にできることを一緒に考えませんか。

Since early 2020, Thailand has seen mass demonstrations throughout the country calling for reforms to the constitution, society, and politics, with mainly young people taking to the streets. In response, the authorities have cracked down on protests, trying to disperse the demonstrations using water discharge mixed with tear gas, rubber bullets, and sometimes even chemicals. Unjust arrests and prosecutions continue to increase.

At this event, we will invite university student and democracy activists Rung, who plays an important role in Thailand's pro-democracy movement, to talk about the background of the current demonstrations, the current state of human rights in Thailand, and police violence against demonstrators. Rung has called for equality, freedom of expression and reform of the monarchy, a very sensitive topic in Thailand. Cutting into the taboo, she suddenly became a symbol of the pro-democracy movement, and the authorities regard her as a troublemaker fueling political unrest. Rung faces dozens of charges and the possibility of life imprisonment.

パヌサヤ・「ラン」・シチジラワッタナクルさん／Panusaya ("Rung")Sithijirawattanakul
「ラン」として知られるパヌサヤ・シチジラワッタナクルさんは大学生であり、タイの民主化運動の主導者の1人です。その活動のために、ランさんは数十の起訴と終身刑の可能性に直面しています。／Rung Panasuya is a promising university student who, like many other young people, has been peacefully protesting as part of Thailand's democracy movement. Because Rung dared to call for change publicly and peacefully, she faces multiple criminal charges and the possibility of life in prison.
