Well, that's exactly what we'll be exploring in this month's AI Nagoya Multicultural Group Freedom Toast Cafe where we will be holding an online interactive discussion on Zoom addressing human rights and to what extent these are observed for foreigners in Japan.
Come join us to reflect on the reality of how human rights are observed for foreigners and non-citizens here and have your questions answered by our three expert guest speakers: Maho Hadano, Dennis Tesolat, and Dr. Debito Arudou.
The event will be held as a Q&A-style panel discussion with the floor being open for questions. So please feel free to ask our expert guest speakers any burning questions you have!

アムネスティ日本の名古屋多文化グループが主催する「フリーダム・トースト・カフェ」では、世界中で話題になっている事柄について、専門家、研究者、人権活動家などからリアルタイムで話を伺える機会をつくろうと、イベントなどを開催しています。
今回は、グループのメンバーの人たちが外国籍であることからインスピレーションを得て、日本国内での日本国籍でない人たちの権利について、真剣に考えたいと思います。どの国にも、自らの国民としての権利（労働権、言論の自由、教育権など）を知る事がないまま日常生活を続けている人がいます。これは、特に母国でない国に住んでいるエクスパットや、なんらかの理由で母国とは違う国籍を持っている人にとって、とても重要なことです。このイベントに参加することで新たな知見を得て、日本における自らの権利についてもさらに調べたくなる気持ちを促すことができればと思っています。また、これを機にアムネスティの活動にも興味を持っていただければ幸いです。

Author of 'Embedded Racism' and 'Visible Minorities', writer at The Japan Times and Shingestu News Agency, political science lecturer and human rights activist who has spent decades fighting for the acknowledgement and rights of both foreigners and foreign-born Japanese nationals in Japan.
■ Maho Hadano
Coordinator of Door to Asylum Nagoya, an NPO that provides essential financial, legal and linguistics support to refugees and asylum seekers in the Aichi region.
■ Dennis Tesolat
General secretary of the General Union and advocate for ensuring the fair treatment of foreign workers.
