東京で活動するアムネスティ日本のEnglishグループ、Amnesty International Tokyo English Network（AITEN）は6月21日、インドネシアの西パプアの現状を描いた新作ドキュメンタリー映画『Pesta Babi (Pig Feast)』の上映会を開催しました。
パプアでは、燃料用パーム油やサトウキビなどの作物を生産するために、インドネシア企業が先住民族の土地や森林を次々と取得しています。映画の題材となっている「Pig Feast（豚の祭り）」は、先住民族にとって重要な行事であり、彼らが森という生活の場の中でいかに持続可能な暮らしを営んでいるかを示しています。彼らは今、自分たちの土地や生活が奪われるのを防ごうと懸命に闘っています。
今回のイベントは、メンバーそれぞれが役割を分担して実現しました。インドネシア出身のメンバーが映画を手配し、別のメンバーが東京大学キャンパス内の大講義室を確保しました。さらに別のメンバーは、先日の「Refugee Week」期間中のワークショップで学んだ日本の難民問題を解説する小冊子（Zine）を制作・印刷し、会場で来場者に配布しました。
当日は100人近い観客（多くはインドネシア出身の方々）が集まり、映画の上映後には有意義な議論が交わされました。チームが一丸となって取り組んだ素晴らしいイベントとなりました。今後もこうした良質な映画の上映を続けていきたいと考えています。
On June 21st, right after Refugee Week, the AITEN team put together a film event, showing the recently released documentary 'Pig Feast' which describes the situation in Papua.
Indonesian companies are taking over indigenous lands and forest there to produce palm oil for fuel, sugar cane and other crops. The Pig Feast, an important annual event for one tribe, demonstrates how the tribe lives sustainably within its forest home. They are struggling to keep their land and lifestyle from being taken over.
Young members from Indonesia accessed the film and another member arranged a large lecture theater in the Todai campus. Others created and printed a zine explaining refugee issues in Japan which we studied in a recent workshop.
We had dozens if not a hundred participants, many from Indonesia, and a meaningful discussion after the film. It was a great team effort and we hope to show more good films in future.
