【イベント報告】＜ユースカフェ＞「中国政府はなぜ「64」という数字を恐れるのか ～天安門事件と中国の人権を学ぶワークショップ～」の報告

アムネスティ日本のユースネットワークが、天安門事件と中国の人権に関するワークショップを開催しました。

このワークショップでは、当時NHK北京特派員として天安門事件の現場を報道していた大崎雄二さん（現・法政大学教員）を講師に迎え、天安門事件の背後にある出来事やそれ以降の中国における人権侵害についてお話しいただきました。

ワークショップの中で行われた、ブレイクアウトルームのディスカッションでは、人権にまつわるさまざまな課題について熱い議論が展開されました。

「西洋の人権観はブルジョワジーの思想に過ぎないもので、中国には中国固有の人権観があるのではないか」と問われたらどのように答えるのか。大崎先生が中国政府の立場を提示した際に、「明確な反駁が思いつかなかった」、「とっさに反論ができなかった」などと、我に帰る学生の姿が印象的でした。

最後に、大崎先生から「私たちは世界人権宣言人であり、守るべき財産がある」という力強いメッセージが伝えられ、イベントは幕を閉じました。

2時間とは思えないほどの濃密な、学びの多い時間となりました。

【Event Report】 "Why the Chinese government is afraid of the number "64": Workshop on China's Human Rights and the Tiananmen Square Incident" Report

Amnesty Japan Youth Network recently hosted an enlightening workshop on China's Human Rights and the historic Tiananmen Square Incident.

The event featured a distinguished guest, Mr. Yuji Osaki, currently a faculty member at Hosei University, who brought a unique perspective as the former NHK Beijing correspondent during the time of the Tiananmen Square incident. Mr. Osaki eloquently elucidated the events leading up to this pivotal moment in history, as well as the continued human rights violations in China that have persisted since.

The workshop's breakout room discussions were marked by fervent debates on a myriad of human rights-related subjects. One particularly thought-provoking question that emerged was, "Could it be that human rights, as advocated by the West, are simply an ideology of the bourgeoisie, while China possesses its distinctive interpretation of human rights?" When Professor Osaki presented the Chinese government's standpoint, it became apparent that students found it challenging to respond immediately. Some expressed their inability to provide an instant rebuttal, while others grappled with the complexity of the issue. This led to a process of introspection for many participants, fostering an understanding of the importance of being able to advocate for the universality of human rights.

The event concluded with a resounding message from Mr Osaki, who emphasised, "We are the custodians of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and we hold a precious asset to safeguard."

In the span of just two hours, this workshop provided an incredibly rich and enlightening educational experience. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the participants who actively contributed to the success of this event.
